Most of you will know Steve Rachmad as a DJ. From 1997 to 2003 he was resident at the legendary Kozzmozz parties in Ghent. Always trying to combine pounding beats with intelligent climaxes, he’s set many dancefloors on fire across the globe.
As a producer Steve made timeless tracks under the aliases of Sterac, Ignacio, Scorp or Tons of Tones. His music has been released on nearly every serious label from Tresor to Music Man. Think of tracks like Virton, Organa, Crashed at the end, Rolling Thunder…
As one of the kings of melodic techno, he proves you can be Dutch but still be from Detroit.
Steve Rachmad is a Dutch techno producer, DJ and remixer. By many, he is considered a father of Detroit techno in the Netherlands, respected in the world of electronic music for his deep, groovy sounds that tend to rest on impressive strings, melodies, funk and soul. His career has been reaching its highest peaks from 1996 up to the present time. Yet, it is somewhat less known that he has been in the music realms for over 25 years by now.
Steve’s life story starts in Amsterdam. At the age of 12, teenage Steve already starts buying his first records: to mix, remix, and cut-and-paste their parts with an open reel tape deck. In such a cut-and-paste fashion, he presented his first release in the mid-1980s. Among these early releases was also the one created for a hip-house/dance artist Tony Scott.
From that time on, Steve finds his inspiration in the 1980s dance and electro, works of former Time members (Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis), The System, Arthur Baker, to name but a few. At the age of 15, he also starts his DJing career with a disco set in a small Amsterdam club. Nevertheless, his love for music urges him to start buying equipment, which would later result in a professional studio that is, according to him, “everything he ever dreamt of having.” Today, his equipment is mainly analogue, providing him with a chance to explore the realms of warm, alive, non-static sounds. He laid the corner stone of this collection in 1985, by getting a TR-808.
A year later, Steve gets introduced to the house music. His attention is captured by the new sounds echoing mostly from Detroit and Chicago, i.e. by the work of artists such as Mr. Fingers and Derrick May. Following their style, Steve’s own style takes a new direction. He is soon to be found releasing for artists like Darren Emerson and Derrick May.
The incoming years are to be marked by numerous successful releases on labels such as 100% Pure, Cocoon, Underwater, Fragile, M-Plant, Tresor, and the recent years on labels as Sino, Delsin, Music Man, Artless, etc. He also made over a hundred remixes, signed under various pseudonyms. He remixed a variety of artists, from Taksi, Derrick May and John Tejada, to Armand van Helden, Club MCM, Armin van Buuren, Seven Grand Housing Authority, Victor Calderone and Basement Jaxx. Among Steve’s most respected releases is certainly his album “Secret Life of Machines,” which came out in 1996 under his pseudonym Sterac, and is up to this date considered as one of the all-time techno classics. About the same time his DJing path starts rapidly evolving as well. Until today, Steve shares his talent with the crowds all over the World. He occasionally spins disco and electro, but mainly techno.
Of all the fictitious names he used throughout his career to sign his productions, the ones that remained until today are Sterac, Sterac Electronics, Ignacio and Parallel 9. In the later years, he also releases more and more under his real name. The history of remixes continues into the present, including a variety of people, such as M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade, DK7, Clashing Egos, Sweet Coffee, Infinity (Juan Atkins vs Orlando Voorn), etc. In the latest years, next to his characteristic techno sound, he also actively focuses on electro, stripping it down to the old-school feel. His Sterac Electronics remixes of the vocal track Love Sweet Love (by Clashing Egos), Keep on Running (by Sweet Coffee) and Body Language (by M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade), and his own “Keep on running” and “Night Heat” releases on Music Man Records have ended up in the record bags of a wide variety of artists, from techno, to minimal, house and electro. He re-confirms his reputation as an artist with exquisite ear for technical qualities of sound, always returning to his soulful roots and maintaining the warmth of analogue-produced music.
Over the years, Steve lost the count of his productions and remixes. However, he built an oeuvre that is without a doubt of a high magnitude: both quality and quantity-wise. Unfortunately, his busy DJ schedule puts a limit on the time he would like to spend in his studio. Yet, he strives for the balance that would satisfy his enormous artistic appetite and potential. His devotion to his dreams and inspirations drives him safely into the successful future.

Together with some friends, Daemon started organising parties under the name Cruisin’ Beats at special locations like the coalmines in Winterslag, boatparties and other locations ....bringing a combination of styles from techno to tech-house.
In 2000, he decided to participate to a dj contest called “djmania”, an initiative of the belgian province “Limburg” and “Four in trance”. Out of more than 69 contestants, 16 half finalists and 8 finalists he came out as winner with a mix of hard techno with electro influences. Everybody has his sins of youth, and so K-Dust started spinning at the age of 16 at ‘parties’ of the local sportclubs and other strange societies. But because of this experiences he developed a broad knowledge of different styles of music.
A few years later he could not longer hide his love for electronic music. At that point he had his first modest gigs. Because things went to slow in his opinion he started organising his own parties with some friends (like dj Daemon). The concept Cruisin’ Beats was born and still well known in the area.
His style depends on the setting and his mood and flows from very deep house to pumping techno, but always filled with trippy soundscapes and with an always ongoing groove.
He played together with Ben Long, Space dj’s, Big Hair, Michel De Hey, Trish Van Eynde, Fabrice Lig, Tomaz, Laidback Luke (in his pre-commercial days), Darren Roach, Jack de Marseille, St-Dic, Smos & Baby B, Koenie, Les Craven, Prinz, …
After a few calm years he’s back with a new concept: Future Past. At this super-deluxe-great party he will invite one of his influences of the past. Two conditions: it has to be a long time ago they played in Belgium and they still experience music in an inventive way.

Kairon is Sven Luyten. He fell in love with electronic music in the early 90’s and went through a lot of different stages of the electronic underground. Playing music became more and more important in his life. In the blessed year 1995, he discovered the ‘goa trance’ movement and nothing was the same anymore. In this time working and playing occasionally in several clubs and other aspects of the party world as a dj, he threw himself on the psychedelic scene. As owner and founder of the Kairoo Records label and recordstore, Kairon’s name got even more respected in the psyscene. The music he plays depends a lot of the time he plays and the concept of the party. He also played several times at the Sunda Sunda events, organised by dj Djamoon, aka as dj Marko at the legendary Belgian club La Rocca on Sunday night, were you will here him play the more progressive side of psytrance…with a twist! He got invited to play at several clubs, parties and huge events in Belgium, like the annual City Parade, the Dance-a-Delic Festival., spinning the decks besides names like Franky Jones, Marko, Phi-Phi, Jean , Philip … He got dancefloors burning in Belgium,Germany, Portugal,Greece, Sweden, France, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Nepal and Spain earning a well respected place in the trance community…

Whizz started mixing his favorite music in psychedelic cocktails back in 2001 and since 2003 he played in the Belgium party scene on regular basis.
His style can be described as a blend of progressive, minimal, techno and house . He is also not afraid to experiment with new styles of music, It just needs to sound fresh, original and with a psychedelic flow breezing through the heavy beats.
He also organises parties under the guise of Smiley Tribe. In his parties they try to give people the best in minimal progressive dance music in a nice partyconcept. During the last years he played with some of his favorite artists like D-nox, Beckers, Emok, SBK Edoardo, Perfect Stranger,...
No doubt about it: this psychedelic wizard will put a never ending smile on your face.

Although these days they enjoy success separately, a few year ago Sanaki & Ishtar were the Trish & Kash of the progressive scene. As a B-day-present to Tox they will play together once more, so expect something special.
Ishtar is Thomas Van Laecke, born in 1983. He started his career as a resident dj for Purple Snow and played beside all major players in the underground progressive scene such as Son Kite (aka Minilogue), Liquid Soul, Ticon and many more.
Nowadays he's focussing more on the techno, minimal side of electronic music and switched to a more clubby level. Under the guise of 'Lawnmowers', he and a couple of friends are responsible for bringing acts like Fiord and Antix to Belgium.
Playing regularly at festivals and parties all around our little country, you're bound to cross his path. With a very solid mix in his fingers and a tight-ass track-selection, he's sure to please your ears!
As a small boy Sanaki got to know electronic music on his small transistor radio. In that period New Beat and Acid House was booming on (illegal) radio stations in Belgium. A little older he was touched by Warp artist like Autechre and Aphex Twin. In 1996 friends took him to the infamous house club Café d' Anvers, and that is where he fell in love with electronic music. And when he discovered PsychedelicTrance in 1997 he couldn't resist as well.
After home DJ'ing for many years from 2000 till 2004 he sold all is equipment, but the pain was great. In 2005 Sanaki started playing again, this time with the intention of pleasing crowds with infectious beats, and he also started organizing parties under the name Marvelously Groovy. After a succesfull first edition things took off, and he played regurarly in Belgium. With his wide background of electronic music Sanaki's sets are filled up with Groovy tunes, from progressive house to techno and progressive trance.

Phlubbe's real name is Philip Hutsebaut. He is able to play a variety of styles (call him multi-musical, if you want), but to generalize under a single term he would classify it as “Shake-that-sexy-ass-dance-music”.
He was born in Antwerp, 1979. At the age of 13 he discovered electronic music. Before that he listened to the old rockers he found in his dad’s record collection, names like Deep purple, Flash in the Pan and Paul Simon. He started his mixing-career as many others in his bedroom with the equipment he could get his hands on. In his case a Technics SL B 2, an old turntable that his granddad made and an audio/visual mixing table. At that time he started playing at underground party’s in his neighbourhood and eventually at the local club (Tequilas). Since a few years he plays as resident at the PurpleSnow Productions and as a regular guest at the Smiley Tribe familly.
Creativity, groovy and contagious … are some of the words often used by others to describe his set. Now-a-days you have a lot of different styles so you really have to look for you’re own niche. To compliment his quest to rock dancefloors all over the world, Phlubbe is also learning the art of producing. “Making people go nutty on the dance floor from behind the decks is what I enjoy most. That is the rush. Seeing all those faces smiling, makes me smile.”
